Today, I’m excited to introduce you to “L’esprit du pic,” a project that holds a special place in my heart as an internationally published cartoonist and graphic novel artist. Through this collaboration, I’m delighted to present a collection of hand-drawn illustrations that beautifully capture the essence of the Pic St Loup Region in Hérault.
At the core of “L’esprit du pic” lies a series of illustrations featuring endearing animal characters engaged in the everyday activities, sports, and leisurely moments that define life in the Pic St Loup Region. From the playful boars to the sprightly hares, and the iconic wolf symbolizing the spirit of Pic St Loup, each illustration celebrates the region’s distinctive charm.
This is not an anti-AI post. It’s remarkable to see how far artificial intelligence (AI) has come, to the point where it can now compete with human abilities. I stare in marvel (and horror) at the current generation of AI generated images.
Maybe the above logo will become the art equivalent of the BIO labels at grocery stores
I am not someone who shies away from new tools or techniques, nor am I a technophobe. As someone who has been an avid fan and user of computers since childhood, I have experienced the evolution of technology firsthand. It always seemed inevitable that this day would arrive at some point, I think what is most surprising is how rapidly it is suddenly advancing. It is difficult for us to understand, because the human brain is not wired for exponential growth. We simply can not understand and imagine it.
Part 2 in a series of fun and inviting presentation videos for Learning Nuggets for the Swiss Lehrabschlussprüfung (LAP) Vorbereitung training course. Success and a good grade for the LAP test are ensured.
Next-Generation Learning and #BYOD (bring your own devices) prepares you for all phases of this important milestone for your career in Switzerland.
Evolving drawings, llustrations and caricatures invite you to find out more about this outstanding training program in a series of short explainer videos illustrated by Ian David Marsden – marsdenillustration.com .
I am frequently called upon to create drawings for presentations and explainer videos or advertising videos or education videos.
My style of drawing videos and explainer videos differs from the vast majority of video productions because they are actual drawings which unfold, drawn by an actual artist who knows how to draw. The appearance can vary in different illustration styles, we can use color, we can use painterly brush strokes, pen, or pencil sketches. It is an actual work of art unfolding. The intrigue also lies in what unfolds first and what unfolds next.

Nebelspalter Titelblatt Mai 2022 “Stossverkehr” von Ian David Marsden
The Nebelspalter is a Swiss satirical magazine. It was founded in 1875 by Jean Nötzli of Zurich as an “illustrated humorous political weekly.” The magazine was modelled on British magazine Punch. When Punch ceased publication in 2002, Nebelspalter became the oldest continually published humour magazine in the world.
I am frequently consulted by my clients to assist with marketing and advertising projects, with concepts and ideas, layouts and graphic design suggestions as well as of course drawings and illustration elements.
The client required three different large-scale Kakémono display banners (2.10 meters x 0.85 meters) as portable rollup banners for three different areas of their activity: training, the association itself and the universities organised by AN2V.

Happy New Year 2001!
The first Illustrations I made for Google, were shown on April Fool’s Day 2000. Google launched the amazing MentalPlex Technologywhere you could just think of what you were searching for and Google would find it. I created a little character and made some animated GIFs to explain how it worked.
My first ‘Google Doodle’ series was also the very first actual Google Doodle – namely the Alien abduction of the Google logo which happened in May 2000.
The third series of Google Doodles I designed were the Olympic Doodles for the Summer Olympics in Sydney – with the little ‘Kangaroodle” character design I made for the event. I have never received more fan mail than I did during the days these olympic google doodles were online. Hundreds of e-mails from all over the world. All of them positive and friendly.
