Films d’animation de presentation / Videos Explicatives / Whiteboard fait sur mesure Montpellier (Hérault 34)

Je vous présente avec grand plaisir une série de vidéos que j’ai récemment produites pour un client basé en Allemagne. Le concept était de relayer l’histoire de la production de leurs champignons vitaux de très haute qualité, depuis leur origine dans les montagnes de Chine, en passant par le transport, le stockage, l’analyse approfondie en laboratoire et une production, l’encapsulation et l’emballage hautement supervisés.

J’ai eu le plaisir de dessiner d’abord les story-boards, puis de créer toutes les illustrations et de produire l’animation ainsi que de superviser les enregistrements de voix dans les studios à Berlin, Paris et au Royaume-Uni.

En tant qu’orateur et voix française de la série, nous avons sélectionné l’acteur Daniel Beretta connu des cinéphiles en France comme la voix d’Arnold Schwarzenegger, musicien et auteur de chansons pour Mireille Mathieu, et Nino Ferrer, notamment La Rua Madureira.

Good-bye Marsdencartoons.com

It was on December 2nd, 1998 (almost 20 years ago!) that I started my first website “Marsdencartoons.com”.

It evolved over many iterations, and later for several years it also hosted the Marsdencartoons Cartoonist’s Directory which was a popular resource to find links to illustrators and cartoonists all over the world.

Since I don’t only draw cartoons but also create more “serious” illustrations and logos and character designs for various clients all over the world, I decided in 2014 to create my new homepage MARSDEN ILLUSTRATION, which you see before you and which embodies all the various facets of my work in my PORTFOLIO

Such as my personal sketchbook, the first Google Doodles which were created by me, Advertising and Business Illustration, Custom Whiteboard Videos and Explainer Videos design and production, Editorial Illustration, Comics, Logos, Character Design and Mascot Design, Ritzenhoff Designs, Children’s Book Illustration, Wacom Tutorial Videos by Ian Marsden, Packaging Design and some of the album covers I created for La Toya Jackson and Ja-Tail Enterprises LLC.

For a few years it autoforwarded to my new domain, but a few months ago I let the old marsdencartoons.com domain name expire. A fresh new start.

It appears that another company has purchased the domain name marsdencartoons.com and is now putting up a website for Illustration and Graphics.
This is of course perfectly fine and quite normal I guess by Internet standards, although it would be interesting to know who the “Marsden” is who is featured in their domain name. Because one thing I can tell you is that it is NOT me.

For the record, I wanted to state categorically: that I, Ian David Marsden, am no longer the owner of the domain marsdencartoons.com, I am in no way involved in their enterprise, and am not affiliated anymore in any way with marsdencartoons.com. Any transactions with this domain will not include any involvement with me and you will not be purchasing artwork created by me.

New artwork in my sketchbook gallery

I just uploaded a selection of recent sketches and pen and ink artwork to my sketchbook gallery.
I hope you enjoy them. These are all created with pen and ink, ballpoint pen, pencils and other traditional methods. I do sometimes scan them and color them in photoshop, but most of these are also colored with watercolor, ecoline and aquarelle / goache.

These are all just fun, free drawings that I like to do sometimes to relax and clear my mind. These were not commissioned. Often I don’t even know what it will be when I start drawing.
I guess since I am working in digital art programs with my Wacom Cintiq most of the time, these little exercises also s to show myself that I still know how to do it “old-school”. 😊

The Early Days of Google Doodles: How Illustrator Ian Marsden Created the First Doodle

If you’re a fan of Google, you might have noticed that the search engine sometimes features creative and playful variations of its logo on special occasions, such as holidays, birthdays, or events. These variations are called Google Doodles, and they have become a beloved and iconic part of Google’s brand and culture. But did you know who created the first Google doodle, and how it happened?

Mentalplex Technology Google Doodles by Ian David Marsden

According to a fascinating article in The Wall Street Journal, the story of the first Google doodle involves a lucky coincidence, a talented illustrator, and a creative marketer. It all started in 1998, when two Stanford University students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founded Google as a search engine for the internet. They initially used a simple logo featuring the word “Google” in colorful letters, but they soon realized they could use the logo as a canvas for fun and quirky designs that would celebrate and educate users about various topics.

Enter Susan Wojcicki, a young marketing manager who worked for Google in its early days (and who is now CEO of YouTube by the way). As the story goes, Wojcicki was looking for ways to promote Google and attract more users. She had the idea of commissioning an illustrator to create special logos for events. Wojcicki asked her colleagues if they knew any good illustrators, and one of them recommended Ian David Marsden, a cartoonist and illustrator, 32 at the time and father of two infant daughters, who had worked for Coca Cola and other clients and was making a name for himself with fun web graphics and animations during the amazing days of the first web bubble.

Wojcicki contacted Marsden to create some animated GIFs for an april fools joke about “Mentalplex Technology” – a new Google feature where you could just think about what you wanted to look for. Marsden was delighted and sent his designs to Wojcicki, who loved them. She showed it to Page and Brin, who also loved it. The logo was published on april fools day 2000, and became the first Google doodle.

Marsden’s design was a hit, and soon Wojcicki asked him to create more doodles for other occasions, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. Marsden, who lived in Santa Monica, CA, drew the doodles on paper and scanned them into his dual-processor G3 Mac where he were digitally colorized them and emailed them to Wojcicki, who approved them and uploaded them to the Google site. Marsden worked closely with Wojcicki to refine each Doodle. He became known as the “doodler-in-chief” and drew all the Google doodles for over a year, until the company hired more illustrators and established a doodle team.

Most noticeable was probably the series of Google Doodles for the summer olympics in Sydney featuring a fun kangaroo character (the kangaroodle).

Marsden was studying animation at AET Academy of Entertainment and Technology, Santa Monica College at the time. He was hesitant to leave Santa Monica for Silicon Valley because he was also interested in breaking into the magazine cartoon world, animation for TV, and the budding web animation markets.

It’s hard to believe that back then, nobody could have known that Google would become the all-encompassing global mega-success that it is now. It didn’t seem like something to bet your entire future on. (Remember “Ask Jeeves”?) Yet the first Google doodles, created by Marsden, marked the beginning of a new era in the search engine giant’s evolution.

Today, Google doodles have become a beloved part of Google’s brand identity and have celebrated everything from holidays to historic events and individuals. It’s hard to imagine Google without them.

But it all started with a chance encounter between a marketing manager and a talented illustrator. Who knows where the next wave of innovation will come from? One thing is for sure: it’s always worth keeping an eye out for creative talent in unexpected places.

Today, Google doodles are created by a team of artists and engineers, and they continue to amaze and delight millions of people around the world. But the story of Ian David Marsden and his serendipitous encounter with Susan Wojcicki remains a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and innovation that fueled Google’s early days.

Hello dear visitors to my blog,

What I love most of all about my profession as an illustrator and designer, is that I get to be creative in all kinds of different areas and I never really know what’s coming next.

Below, I have put together a selection of some of the fun projects I have recently worked on. I hope you enjoy it.

Before we get started let me wish you a wonderful summer, and just in case you are working during the summer months, it might comfort you to know that you are not alone. I will be doing the same.

I got to be CLASSY and SOPHISTICATED!…

My lovely wife Sheryl Marsden has founded a shop called Love French Linen featuring gorgeous linen items from the south of France (where we live).

What could be more appropriate than to use her very own in-house creative department for her photography and logo needs?

Even our dog “Watson” now features prominently in several images as the Love French Linen dog. Undoubtedly he will start his very own newsletter soon, when his modelling career takes off. ðŸ˜Š

Sheryl did a wonderful job and put a lot of thought and care into her linen collection. Please have a look and forward to your friends who might be interested in French linens for bedroom, dining room, bathroom and kitchen.
