IAN DAVID MARSDEN

I’m Ian David Marsden, an illustrator, cartoonist and creative director based in the south of France. I work internationally in English, French and German, creating hand-drawn illustration, character and mascot design, editorial artwork, UX/UI visuals, business comics, explainer-video assets and motion-graphics concepts for brands, publishers, agencies, NGOs and cultural institutions.

With over twenty-five years of professional experience, I’ve collaborated with global companies such as Coca-Cola, Daimler Benz, Dräger, Evonik, Henkel, Mercedes-Benz Museum, PwC, Samsung, RITZENHOFF and Visa, and I was the first Google Doodle artist during the early development of the project. My work also supports organisations in education, social impact and the non-profit sector, where clear and human-centred visual communication is essential.

Alongside my studio practice, I teach Illustration, Visual Arts and Image Analysis (Semiotics and Scénario) within the 3D Animation & VFX Master’s Program (RNCP 7 / Bac+5) at ESMA Montpellier – École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques, an internationally recognised higher-education network in applied arts, design and animation. My teaching integrates visual theory, narrative structure, cinematographic analysis and contemporary creative practice, all of which inform my approach to illustration and visual storytelling.
