The Framework
Ten dimensions for navigating change and responsibility
Men Harvesting Wisdom is a book, teaching framework and personal-development platform created by J. H. Parker. At its centre are the 10 Heroic Dimensions of Transformational Self-Leadership.
Identity · Values · Meaning · Purpose · Self-Care · Roles · Vision · Execution · Willingness · Legacy
Together they form a practical structure for men examining where they are, what they value, what they are responsible for, what they are building and what they intend to leave behind.
01 · The Visual Task
Making a substantial framework understandable in one film
The approved narration already carried the conceptual structure. My task was to build the visual architecture around it: deciding what each section needed to show, where a symbolic image would work better than a literal one, how the ten dimensions should be introduced and how the film could move from personal reflection into the wider framework.
The material is abstract but not vague. Ideas such as identity, purpose, endurance, willingness, choice and legacy all needed a visual form that could be understood quickly and then carried forward through the sequence.
02 · Visual Language
Maps, thresholds, tools and journeys
The visual language developed around recurring motifs: maps, compasses, thresholds, journeys, tools, craft, reflection and legacy. Each gives physical form to a part of the underlying philosophy.
Some scenes are character-led: men considering their roles, families, work, service, personal change or the next stage of life. Others are symbolic: a doorway, bridge, forge, compass or wheel of dimensions.
The intention was to make the images part of one conceptual world rather than a collection of unrelated illustrations attached to the narration.
03 · Production
