Domaine Les Tuileries – Illustrated Wine Label & Domain Logo
Client: David Codomié – Domaine viticole de Coursac
Carnas, Gard – Occitanie, France
Year: 2018
Medium: Hand-drawn with dip pen & India ink
North of Montpellier, between Pic Saint-Loup and the Cévennes, lies a sun-drenched valley where the Domaine Les Tuileries produces bold, expressive wines under AOP Languedoc and IGP Cévennes.
Commissioned by vigneron indépendant David Codomié, I was asked to design a full wine label system and a custom-drawn domain logo—conveying artisanal quality, French character, and boutique appeal for import into the US market.

Design concept:
Two cheerful bird characters celebrate on a French rooftop (a nod to “Les Tuileries”). One wears a beret, the other a classic marinière. They toast with a bottle, a baguette, and a wheel of cheese between them—jovial, unmistakably French, and just a bit tongue-in-cheek.
All artwork was created traditionally in black-and-white using India ink on paper, then scanned and refined for print. The drawn typographic logo was also inked by hand, ensuring the entire visual identity felt cohesive and original.
Production notes:
• Metallic gold foil was used to highlight varietal names and select label elements.
• Color coding (red, green, purple) appears in character details (berets, marinières, accessories) to distinguish between the three wine types: Syrah-Grenache, Merlot, and Pinot Noir.
This project celebrated visual storytelling, regional identity, and craft—down to the last drop.

Scope of work:
• Brand illustration & logo design
• Wine label artwork & layout
• Visual storytelling & character development
• Traditional inking & digital prepress
• Color-coding & packaging system
