This was the creative and logistical challenge I was commissioned to solve by Parc Le Duc, a privately owned resort village located in 34270 Vacquières, Occitanie. As a professional illustrator and environmental graphic designer based in southern France, I developed a complete visual signage and map solution that now helps hundreds of guests navigate the resort each season.

Working from a black-and-white architectural plan, I designed a fully vector-based illustrated map using Adobe Illustrator, integrating custom cartographic iconography, color-coded chalet sectors, and emergency safety signage—all optimized for print, outdoor visibility, and trilingual communication (FR | NL | EN).

About the Location

Parc Le Duc is a Dutch-owned resort community with hundreds of chalets, pools, a restaurant, and sports facilities. The core user group includes Dutch and French families, so the design required a friendly, high-contrast visual language with language-independent iconography for safety and navigation.

Scope of Work

• Large-scale vector map design with multilingual labeling
• Custom cartographic icons for hydrants, defibrillators, rally points, cutoffs
• Illustrated chalets & color-coded sectors
Totem signage for roadside orientation
• Trilingual safety and welcome panels
• Digital/print asset prep and scalable vector exports

Disciplines & Tools

This project brought together multiple disciplines from my portfolio as a professional vector illustrator and signage designer:

Environmental graphic design
Illustrated cartography
Vector icon system design
Wayfinding design
Outdoor signage & layout strategy
Multilingual safety communication
• Adobe Illustrator, color theory for exterior readability, typographic hierarchy

Outcome

The final result was a fully integrated orientation and safety visual system used across Parc Le Duc’s printed maps, signage boards, emergency information posts, and digital materials. It supports guest safety, improves navigation, and strengthens the park’s visual identity with a clean, vector-based design language rooted in clarity and hospitality.
