Comics & Sequential Illustration

I draw comics and sequential illustrations for businesses, NGOs and publishers who need to explain something clearly and memorably. Alongside commissioned work, I am an internationally published magazine and newspaper cartoonist and editorial illustrator, and I have written and drawn graphic novels as well as illustrated books.

In recent years I have often worked on business and explainer comics. For Daimler-Benz, for example, I developed an extensive visual system for internal culture and HR topics, producing more than 100 illustrations for multilingual employee manuals. Similar approaches have been used in projects printed directly onto Coca-Cola cans and in many other, very different commissions. For a closer look at some of these projects, please also visit my Case Studies page.

The emphasis is on stories that, where possible, work across languages: clear, sometimes wordless sequences that can be read quickly in different cultural contexts. The drawings are hand-made and designed to be flexible in use – from print and intranet to animated explainer videos and motion comics for digital platforms.

Clients include Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Dräger, SUSTAIN-D, Henkel and Schiffer Publishing.

Types of Comics & Visual Storytelling I Offer

Corporate & Business Comics

Explainer Comics & Global Communication Business comics are a powerful tool for turning corporate strategies, training manuals, and HR onboarding into engaging visual journeys. By using narrative pacing and relatable characters, I help organizations like DrägerHenkel, and Mercedes-Benz promote safety, culture, and compliance.

Many of my projects are designed to be text-free, allowing NGOs and international brands to deploy the same visual assets in multiple global markets without the need for translation. Furthermore, my comic assets are built to be “Motion-Ready,” serving as the foundation for professional animated explainer videos that bring your story to life on screen.

Character Design & Serial Storytelling

Recurring characters serve as long-term brand assets—instantly recognizable and adaptable to multiple campaigns and platforms. Work includes:

  • Brand mascots with distinctive personalities
  • Recurring comic strip figures for publications
  • Series formats for cross-media storytelling

Educational & Awareness Comics

Comics can communicate across cultures, age groups, and literacy levels, making them ideal for NGOs, government agencies, and schools. Projects include health and safety campaigns, environmental awareness programs, and large-scale public information initiatives.

  • Health & safety communication materials
  • Environmental sustainability campaigns
  • Public education comics for diverse audiences

Explainer Videos & Motion Comics

Hand-drawn artwork extends beyond static images into animated explainer videos and motion comics—ideal for product demonstrations, service launches, and interactive training.

  • Animated product demos
  • Launch campaign videos
  • Interactive e-learning content

Clients include Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Dräger, SUSTAIN-D, The New Yorker, MAD Magazine, Nebelspalter, NZZ am Sonntag, and Schiffer Publishing. See more on my clients & creative partners page.
